Warrior Epic MMO Looks To Appeal To Casual Gamers
This started out as a post on my opinion that “free-to-play” will be the big trend of 2008, and then I noticed this little gem in the FAQ on the incomplete website for the new FTP MMORPG Warrior Epic.
Possibility Space has developed unique technology that allows you to start playing even before the whole game is downloaded. Simply run our tiny install file and you will be playing within minutes.
Obviously they’re planning for it to be module-based, which will ultimately lead to something closer to a cross between Guild Wars and Neverwinter Nights with an RMT item shop thrown in. This may not be a bad thing, though.
Okay. I’ll give you a minute to stop screaming at me for saying that, and then I’ll continue.
Got it out of your system? Good.
Developer Possibility Space appears to be directly targeting the casual MMO player, with what appears to have quite a few elements of a “traditional” MMO, but operating under the idea that it shouldn’t take long to play. I mean, they say that on the “About” page under “Your Time Is Important”:
Each adventure in Warrior Epic can be completed in under 15 minutes. So whether you have a whole evening to kill or just half an hour, you can play and make meaningful progress.
I really believe that there’s a market waiting for a game like this…if it’s well done. Will it be well-done? Here’s the trailer from the official site…judge for yourself:

I think I would rather spend my hours killing people inside War Song Gulch and Arathi. This game seems ok but it’s hard to tell anything from videos these days.
It’s like when you see that big juicy burger in a commercial and when you finally get to the restaurant it looks like a kids meal lol.

Nice share, mate.
Graphics looks decent.
Animations rather fluid and smooth.
Free to play?
Does not even require a purchase like Guild Wars?
Sounds good to me.
Keep us informed yo!
Let us know when this baby starts accepting beta testers.
…my opinion that “free-to-play” will be the big trend of 2008…
I concur. More and more good “free-to-play” games appearing nowadays.
Cheers!

Will do, Deimos…I’m keeping an eye on this one, even though I still think they got the name backwards.
