The MMORPG Blogosphere Gets Mishandled
I had this site pointed out to me by a friend…it’s of the “humorous attempt to translate a website” vein, except this one translates any url you input to a LOLcats site.
There is no end to how bored I am tonight, apparently.
Not being one to hoard this kind of anguish, let’s look around the MMORPG blogosphere, despite the fact that none of these fine folks have done anything to me to deserve this kind of treatment:
And my personal favorite, simply because of the image it puts as the title graphic…
And now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go pretend I never posted this.

For a second there I thought you’d forgotten to do your own site…
The “suckin up yur mental…” pic is great!
I think my fav’ is OBA’s, because his content actually fits the theme.
“TUNA TUNA TUNA”
I don’t believe that cats can blog, but I do believe that if they could, that’d be a post title they would use.
If you’re bored, try Elf Online. You have to post your email address to the “give me a beta key”-forum in order to actually get a sign-on, but MAN is it ever worth it.

I’ve been meaning to take a look at it, now that it’s entered Open Beta (or “beta of the open,” as I’m sure they’d call it)…thanks for reminding me, Jeff!
I am now the proud owner of a “Happymmo Passport” (no, I’m not making that up), and got this message:
…well, it’s nice to know I could, now that I’m registed and everything.
You’re right…this is going to be worth it.
I’ll keep an eye out for you…I assume you’ll be the only other person typing in english in local.
(Edited to report this: This is nothing short of classic. From the client download screen:
Blink…blink…LMFAO. Damn, you’re good, Jeff…it’s already worth it.)

I think I might have mentioned this before: There are 4 buttons on the login screen, and three of them are misspelled…
I don’t know who localized the thing for ‘em, but I hope they didn’t charge much.
Really though, I’ve been having a hell of a lot more fun with it than I ever expected.
Another funny moment: I’m sitting there wondering why the hammer keeps bonking the little baby’s head at the bottom of the screen, thinking surely that can’t go on and on the whole time you’re playing the game…
Duh. It was letting me know to click the baby’s head (which I guess is actually an elf), ’cause I had leveled up.
On a different note (moving away from poking fun at the insanity of it to pointing out something cool): I love the way the local-map can be used as a sort of “town menu”. Want to shop at this or that store? Click on it, as though that map were just a menu…
That your little dude is in the background walking to the store you just clicked on is there for when you want your MMO world to have a town that is more than just a menu, but man is that ever convenient for the 99-percent of the time that you just want to do your business and skip the second-by-second roleplaying immersion.
The tabletop equivalent is when you tell the GM, “I go to town and sell all this crap, how much do I get for it?”
I don’t think any other MMO has even taken a stab at implementing that, and certainly not anywhere near as well as EO did it.

Yeah, I have to say…I logged in for the first time today, and even though I gave it a liberal amount of (well-deserved) hell over the “Engrish”, they actually have some really good features in there, of the “Wow…that’s a better way of doing that than I’ve seen.
I also like the “Auto-finder” feature, where you get a pop-up menu of local points of interest as well as quest points. You can click on them on that pop-up menu, and you auto-walk there.
You’re right…it’s fun to play, it’s easy to play, and if you get bogged down, you can just spend a minute reading some of the NPC text or UI buttons for a quick recharging chuckle.
Now, if I could just make my elf a tad more “manly”.
