Vanguard’s Graphics Engine So Good, The Dirt Is Fascinating
Have you ever been to a party at a friend’s house, and at some point in the evening your buddy starts making alcohol-fueled passes at everything with a dress-like piece of clothing, right up until his wife decides she’s had enough and crawls his case, right there in front of everyone at the party?
This post by Teclisen (former designer at Sigil) on the Fires of Heaven forums is just like that, except I doubt there’ll be make-up sex after the booze wears off.
Brad Mcquaid didn’t do shit. (News Flash?) He’s had an opiate addiction for years now, which only got progressively worse as the project failed. His cumulative face time with sigil designers in the most crucial final years of development? Approx: 15 minutes. And some of the time was spent begging for legitimately acquired narcotics (Or in times of desperation, jacking them from people’s desk).
No…really. That’s what it says. And that’s just the beginning. If you’d like to read an interesting rant that will be the subject of “it’s true” vs. “he’s just a bitter ex-employee” debates for quite some time to come, go read the entire thing.
One problem with all this…Teclisen hasn’t burned his bridges with everyone, but he’s fairly well turned quite a few into smoldering piles of rubble. What happens in Dev Club stays in Dev Club.
Of course, on the other hand this is a bit of a special circumstance, but still…

Ah; how I love to read of the bitterness of a fellow developer. It warms my heart and soothes my soul. Poor Teclisen, caught in a nightmare of someone else’s divising. I hope he gets his legitimately acquired narcotics back.
Thanks for the link, Hib. It’s very classy.
