Virtual worlds are increasingly becoming an outlet for personal beliefs. Second Life has long seen more than its share of protests, marches and sloganeering for various causes ranging from “Save the Whales!” to “We Like Porn,” but now the wonderful world of politics is invading Azaroth.  From WoWInsider:

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul’s internet regiment has come to World of Warcraft– a group of his supporters are planning to form a guild on Whisperwind and do a march from IF to Stormwind (which means they’ll probably be Gnomes or Dwarves, which is too bad, because I liked the idea of “Trolls for Ron Paul”) on New Year’s Day at 8:30pm EST.

While analysts have been impressed with Paul’s recent upswing in DPS (possibly due to a respec), there are those in other characters’ camps that feel he may simply be botting. When reached for comment, the other candidates all responded with “No comment,” save for Mike Huckabee, who simply said “I like pie!” and then ganked a level 2 priest in frustration.

The march is tonight, so keep an eye out for almost zero “mass media” reaction tomorrow.
