No One With A Joystick Allowed To Roll A Female

Of the various questions that pass through the mind of a rabid MMORPG player, one of the most common (and in some cases most important, according to local statutes) is “I wonder if that hot elf chick is really female IRL?”.

The Chinese MMO “King of the World” has decided to try to ensure you always know the answer to that question, according to Filefront’s Gamer News:

Players of the Chinese MMORPG, King of the World, may have found themselves unable to log into their accounts this past weekend. The game’s publisher, Aurora Technology, has apparently frozen the accounts of all male players choosing to play as a female characters. Now, only female players can play female characters, and they’re required to prove their gender via a webcam. Females wanting to play males are still allowed though.

“Very good. Now, lean into the webcam, and take off your top…for, um…verification purposes.”

So let me get this straight (so to speak)…they’re restricting the playstyle of males, but allowing females to do whatever they please? And people say America has no influence over Chinese culture!

And let’s not even THINK about the impact this will have on gold-farmers.

“Alright, everyone back to wor…Yuen? Why do you have a wig and makeup on?”

If this ever gets adopted by the larger publishers out there, what will be the end result?

I’ll tell you what the end result will be.

Now from IGE…”Rent A Girl To Pretend She’s You So You Can Roll A Female Toon In Your Favorite MMORPG,” or “RAGTPSYSYCRLFTIYFMMORPG” for short.
