Maplestory Hogs Your Television Time

Maplestory Hogs Your Television Time

The recent television ads for World of Warcraft have drawn quite a bit of attention, but they’re not the only kid on the MMORPG block to use the medium of television to try to suck people away from television and into their game. I’ve talked before about the television ads for Zwinky, but there’s another MMO that’s advertising on broadcast television you may not have heard about.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you quite possibly the worst commercial in gaming history, for Maplestory.

But wait…that’s not all. The Maplestory goodness just never stops!
So…as near as I can tell from those two commercials, if you play Maplestory, you get to play in a virtual world that’s just as fun as being a socially-disfunctional idiot. Sign me up!Seriously…exactly how successful is Maplestory, if they can afford this kind of thing? Television ads for MMORPGs aren’t exactly flooding the airwaves. In fact, aside from the aforementioned WoW ads and the campaign SOE ran for Star Wars Galaxies last year, I’m hard-pressed to think of another one, and I certainly can’t come up with another free-to-play MMO that’s done this.

Of course, I don’t watch much T.V. anymore…not since I was sucked away from it to play MMORPGs.
